Comment from the Principal – 7th August 2017

Dear Parents and Carers,

A slightly delayed comment this week to allow time for reflection after the Family Fun Night and our farewells to our guests from Japan.

Family Fun Night
This was another enjoyable evening of convivial company and entertainment organised by the Parents and Friends Association. Over 75 parents, students, friends and families attended and enjoyed food, fellowship and fun, with a variety of mind-bending and physical games organised by the Prefects. We heard from our Japanese guests how much they have enjoyed their time in Esperance, and host families made similarly positive comments. It really was a joyous occasion and I am very grateful indeed to our hard-working parents who made it all possible.

Japanese Visit
I am also grateful to Mrs Linda Bosworth for organising and coordinating this year’s visit which has, again, gone well. It really is a great opportunity for our community to learn more about another culture and for genuine camaraderie to develop. Tree planting, a trip to Lucky Bay, cooking dampers and English lessons all figured in a busy itinerary which has certainly been appreciated. Farewells at the bus station this morning were accompanied by more than a few tears.

Canteen Assistance and Training
Some seven students have volunteered to assist in the Canteen and so this week they will follow an on-line food-handling course which will enable them to assist safely in the Canteen.

School Photographs
A reminder that these take place on Wednesday of this week. Students should attend in clean, tidy, full winter uniform, with polished shoes and neat and tidy hair. Blazers are, of course, obligatory for all, and girls should wear tights. Country Week teams should bring their kit, including their team jackets and tracksuit pants.

Volleyball
It was good to learn of the success of our ‘A’ team which won their division in the Kalgoorlie event; all our other teams did well too, recording several wins.
