Principal’s Comment – 6th April 2018

Dear Parents and Carers,

I trust that you had an enjoyable Easter and that the long weekend provided a good opportunity for some time together. It certainly allowed us a pause for breath before the busy final two weeks.

Our swimmers participated in the Great Southern Schools Swimming Carnival at Mount Barker and came away with several medals and a third place overall. Individual successes were:

Year 7 Runners-up Madeline Fox and Bailey Fiegert
Year 8 Champion boy Ben Murgatroyd
Year 9 Champion girl Maddilyn McGrinder
Year 11/12 champion boy Zachary Fox

Thanks are due to Mr Blair Castelli and Ms Georgia Gregory for their leadership of the trip, which gave our swimmers this opportunity to show their talents so effectively.

Year 7 and 8 Camp

Our younger students are off early next week for their camp at Metricup, Margaret River. Having visited last year I know that they are going to experience a week of amazing opportunities in the great outdoors. For those students not participating there will be a full, alternative programme laid on here at School. These students are expected to attend but please inform Reception if your child will be absent.

Big Picture

We have witnessed some very good ‘exhibitions’ in the last week or so in which our students have been displaying the work they have completed on their projects so far this term. Four of our young people will be joining me at the ‘Over the Horizon’ Conference next week to let the wider business community know of their experiences on the programme, which will build on the introduction we made last year.

Lost Property

Further to previous comments about this I do need to remind you that the lost property box will be emptied at the end of the term and the contents donated to one of our charity shops. Please encourage your child to check the box for misplaced items. This task would be a lot easier if the items had been named!

An email has been sent about the appointment system to be used to buy items of the winter uniform which is worn in Terms 2 and 3. As usual there will be a changeover ‘grace’ period until the start of Week 4, on Monday 21st May, when all students will be expected to be properly attired in winter uniform. A reminder, too, that School hats will be compulsory for all students in all terms, when outside.

With warm wishes for the weekend.

Yours sincerely,
