Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been a busy and entertaining week with student leadership and involvement to the fore.
McDonalds McHappy Day
This involvement and commitment was very evident with our Year 10 students who organised the McHappy Day activities and participated in two, raising $350 from their car wash and face painting. In all over $6,000 was raised for the whole day, which included the sports-themed dress-up day. Apparently this total is double what was raised last year and has already inspired the current Year 9s to aim for $10,000 when they run the event next year. I confess to really enjoying my spell handing out food at the drive-through as part of the whole enterprise. Our thanks go to the Maguire family for allowing us to be involved and for their tremendous support. They run an amazing operation which I was very pleased to observe.
Motor Neurone Fund Raiser
It was also heartening to have the Year 9 students lead our Chapel service on Wednesday. Linking Christian teaching and charitable activities is a sound and effective way of ensuring that our community service is properly grounded. I look forward to hearing of the successes of their dress-up day, sausage sizzle and ice-bucket dousing of Mr Castelli.
Again, I have been delighted to present more certificates of commendation as follows:
- Abigail Knox
- Hayden Fiegert
- Bailey Fiegert
- Ashton Burnside
- Kacie Goodman
- Riley Wandel
These have been posted out and you should all have received them; however, please let Reception know if you have not received them or have any questions.
This is approaching rapidly and is scheduled, as you will know, for Wednesday 5th December at 1830, in the Civic Centre. Dress for students is, as always, full winter uniform including blazers and tights.
