Lessons from Geese – Part I

FACT: As each goose flaps its wings it creates ‘uplift’ for the birds that follow. By flying in V formation, the flock adds 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew alone.

LESSON: People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going quicker and easier because they are travelling on the thrust of one another.

School Improvement

Recently, staff have embarked on a journey of School Improvement across nine key domains identified by the Australian Council of Educational Research (ACER). Whilst we recognise the many and varied benefits of an EACS education we can never be complacent, and our dedicated and talented staff recognise this as we invest time and resources to consolidate core teaching practices as well as seek out new and innovative ways to improve teaching and learning outcomes for all students, across the breath of learning opportunities.

COVID-19 Reflections

It is most certainly appropriate to say that the past four months has been like no other. The year commenced as we had expected it to at Esperance Anglican Community School (EACS); with staff and students returning to the new year keen to launch ambitious goals and with a strong desire to contribute to the development of self and community.

Friday 20 March 2020 marks the 10th anniversary of the National Day of Action (NDA). The National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence is an important day in our school calendar to join with other schools across Australia to say ‘Bullying.

In the ETA last week, the focal point of reflection was on self-improvement, which is the goal for every student of EACS. Establishing good work and study habits and daily routines is essential if a student is going to give themselves the best chance of achieving future success.
